Corten, also known as "weathering steel," is typically used for landscaping and outdoor construction. It is made with alloys that cause the surface to encase in a self-protecting rust when exposed to weather. This rust creates a barrier that allows the steel to resists corrosion, while requiring no weather-proofing or paint, without compromising the steel structurally.
